Clinical Trials

The Office of Pediatric Clinical Trials is a component of the Sealy Center for Vaccine Development and is an integral part of the Department of Pediatrics. The investigators and research team play an important role in the evaluation of new therapeutic agents and vaccines for safety and effectiveness in humans. In addition to vaccine trials, other recent studies include multi-center studies involving infants, children, adolescents and young adults with new agents for Type 2 Diabetes treatment, antibiotics, antivirals, sepsis, as well as select work with premature infants.

What Are Clinical Trials?

Clinical Trials are research studies that are performed in human volunteers to answer specific, controlled questions, regarding the use of a new substance for the treatment or prevention of disease, or a previously studied agent in a new way. Clinical trials are a critical step in bringing new treatments to the public and improving health. More information about Clinical Trials and answers to commonly asked questions, are available at ClinicalTrials.gov.
