Rotation Evaluation

Questions: Submit to Dr. Niebuhr vniebuhr@utmb.edu

Patient Care and Communication

  1. What websites have you found that you would highly recommend to parents?

  2. What aspects of health supervision do you consider the most important?   That is, what messages will you be providing to your patients about important health matters?

  3. Justin is 23-months old and still using a pacifier.  You know this because his mother just handed him the bottle in the middle of your 2-year well-child visit.

    1. Why is this a problem?  what justification or evidence can you find for your answer?

    2. What will you say to Justin's mother? (try to write this as a script- i.e. your actual words).  Note: this question is, in part, designed for you to consider your strategy for counseling which requires a person to change the way she is doing something.   (note too: if we did this in a face-to-face session, you need not repeat this here)

Practice-Based Learning & Improvement

  1. After this rotation, what changes do you think you might be making about the way you conduct health supervision visits?

  2. Give some overall impressions of your learning during this rotation (i.e. Did you learn more, less, or as much as you expected to? Did you learn different things than you expected?  How did you learn best?)

  3.
  4. What areas of health supervision,  child development, or counseling have you recognized you still want to work on developing over the next two years?

  5. What websites have you discovered that you intend to bookmark for your own use?

  1. Do you have any recommendations to future residents on how to maximize the value of this rotation?

  2. Do you recommend any changes for this rotation. (re: modules, clinical activities, format of rotation, or just about anything.
