Background
My doctoral research was on the development of polypeptide multilayer nanofilms, for applications as antimicrobial coatings and drug delivery vehicles which enabled me to acquire a solid background in practical and theoretical aspects of peptide-based biomaterials synthesis and development. I also obtained valuable practical experience in the private sector as a research associate of Artificial Cell Technologies, Inc. (ACT), a biotechnology company founded by my doctoral advisor Dr. Don Haynie.
My postdoctoral training under Dr. Joel Collier at the University of Chicago primarily focused on biomaterials immunology and development of self-assembling peptide-based platforms as vaccine adjuvants.
