Graduate Education – Space Life Sciences
Introduction
   

 

The proposed curriculum is intended for those who wish specialized, focused training in space life science. Applicants may enter with bachelors or with an advanced degree.  It is recommended that applicants have a firm foundation of educational preparation in biological sciences but may come from any discipline of study. The educational credentials of all applicants will be reviewed prior to admission for appropriateness and completeness of prior training to ensure necessary prerequisite knowledge and career goals consistent with the program. Course work may be prescribed prior to admission for those students with deficiencies in key areas. The proposed curriculum will lead to completion of a Ph.D. degree awarded by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS).  Physicians and other health care professionals who are enrolled in postgraduate training such as clinical fellowships or advanced practice programs may enroll in this curriculum which may necessitate an initial period of 1-2 years in clinical training, with the intent of achieving both clinical subspecialty training and a Ph.D. in Space Life Sciences. Graduates with training in Space Life Sciences will be positioned to become future leaders in the field. This curriculum will accommodate international applicants seeking accredited training in Space Life Sciences.
