The combined Aerospace Medicine and Internal Medicine residency is a program designed to prepare the physician for the challenges of aerospace medicine and internal medicine in the twenty-first century.  The combined residency will allow physicians to prepare for and sit for both the Aerospace Medicine and Internal Medicine Boards.  The program is designed so the requirements for the residency will be met within a four-year time frame rather than the five it would take to complete each sequentially.  The resident will receive a Master of Public  Health degree.

Requirements for Application:

All applicants must be U.S. Citizens with an M.D. or D.O degree.  The applicant must be eligible for an institutional permit. They should be in good health generally, and be able to pass a physical examination (NASA and USAF). Applicants are expected to have an interest in space biomedical research, operational space medicine, and academic medicine.  Applicants should be able to meet application requirements for UTMB's Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.  Applicants should prepare for a three-day interview process with the UTMB and NASA-JSC resident selection committee.

Combined applicants must apply to both the Internal Medicine and Aerospace Medicine residencies separately.  You must go through ERAS to apply for Internal Medicine.  Please select the "categorical" option.  Combined residency applicants will be identified internally.  If you are interested in this program you may apply and it will not conflict with the match.   The specific dates will be set forth in a letter of invitation.
