General preventive medicine Residency Advisory Committee
The General Preventive Medicine Residency Advisory Committee (the Committee) evaluates and advises on the content, conduct, and effectiveness of the training program and makes appropriate recommendations to the Program Director in the following areas:
1) The Committee helps develop and maintain an accredited residency program with the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
2) The Committee oversees the training and evaluation of residents:
A) The Committee guides the residency program in providing resident physicians an experience consistent with the mission of the University of Texas Medical Branch: (1) innovative education programs in the health sciences, (2) contributions to the body of medical knowledge through research, and (3) service to the workers and the public.
The Committee assures that the training goals of the General Preventive Medicine Residency Program will be met.
3) The Committee helps in the selection of appropriate practicum sites.
The Committee is comprised of members who are expert in the field of preventive medicine and public health. Residents in the program are also represented.

The Committee meets twice annually. Formal minutes of the Committee meetings are kept on file and available for review. The resident(s) shall provide the Chairperson of the Committee with an annual evaluation of the program. The Committee shall report its findings to the Program Director, Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Dean of the School of Medicine, and the President of the University of Texas Medical Branch on an annual basis.
