Policies & Procedures

Provider Performed Microscopy Procedures (PPMP)

PPMP is a subcategory of the Moderate Complexity CLIA testing category.  A CLIA Certificate of PPMP is required to perform these tests.

CLIA Requirement: Procedures must be performed at the time of the patient's visit by a primary care provider (Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant).

Implementation Process: Please Review our policy, IHOP 9.13.2 Governance of Provider Performed Microscopy Procedures.

Quality Control: Providers are required to complete competency assessment and semi-annual proficiency testing (password required). In addition, documentation of microscope daily maintenance must be kept on site at all times.
