POLICE OFFICER II: Applicants must possess a current Peace Officer License issued by TCLEOSE, have less than a 2 year break in service as a commissioned Police Officer, and have at least 2 years of service as a Police Officer in the United States. Position is security sensitive and selected candidates must successfully pass a written examination, thorough background investigation, and a physical fitness test. If hired, the officer must complete a short course of instruction on campus law enforcement.

If hired, lateral Police Officers begin at Police Officer II (1 year) rate.  After completion of a six month probationary period, lateral Police Officers salaries will be adjusted (according to the police career ladder) for their years of experience.

The UTMB Police Department offers the following competitive compensation and benefits.

  •  4 Day (10 Hour) work week

  • Shift Differential Pay (Evening/Night Shifts)

  • Equipment and Uniforms Provided (shoes not included)

  • Overtime paid for working in excess of 40 hours in a week

  • Hazardous Duty Pay $10 monthly (increases $10 with each year of service)

  • Vacation accruals starting at 8 Hours per month (increases with years of service)

  • 14 Holidays (2007 - 2008) paid or accrued

  • Sick Leave 8 Hours monthly / unlimited accrual

  • Workmen's Compensation

  • Health Insurance
