The Working Wonders Campaign positions
UTMB to meet the health care challenges
of the future, including a growing, aging population and a
shortage of health care professionals to serve them.
With the opportunities made possible by those
committed to investing in a bright future,
UTMB will continue to educate the health care
leaders of tomorrow; expand our uniquely collaborative
research enterprise to shorten the
pipeline between groundbreaking
discoveries and the people who
can benefit from them; and provide
world-class patient care.
Among our campaign priorities
is construction of the new Jennie
Sealy Hospital, which will provide
a cutting-edge, team-based, realworld
classroom for students,
residents and faculty, and a healing
patient- and family-centered environment.
The Jennie Sealy Hospital, with a total cost of $438 million,
will be funded through debt service on $150 million in
Tuition Revenue Bonds committed by the Texas Legislature;
$18 million in UTMB funds; a pivotal gift of $170 million
from The Sealy & Smith Foundation (the largest gift ever
made to a Texas health institution); and $100 million in
private philanthropy to be raised through the
Working Wonders Campaign.
Other campaign priorities include
scholarships for deserving
students; endowments to retain
and recruit outstanding faculty;
and vital support for planned new
education and research facilities.
Already, our own UTMB family
has pledged more than $3 million
to help fulfill our vision for the
future.
UTMB represents an incredible return on investment for
the people of Texas, and with the help of generous donors
who share our vision, we can continue to fulfill our vital
mission to improve the health of the people of Texas and
the world.
