Values in Professionalism (VIP) Program

In June of 2002, UTMB launched the follow-up program to Principles of Service. The Values in Professionalism program has goals that are a little different than its predecessor. We transitioned Principles of Service from a one-day to a one-half-day Values in Professionalism program for existing employees. The content of the course moved from the “awareness” focus of POS to “accountability.” We started with the UTMB leadership and conduct classes by entity. These classes average 25 participants. We will be able to work with about 2500 participants per year.

The new ½ day program is designed to:

  • Provide a structure for ensuring we live the UTMB Core Values

  • Use the YOU COUNT (Employee Satisfaction Survey) data in defining actions to be taken to improve results

  • Provide a self-assessment tool for Professionalism and Emotional Intelligence

  • Establish personal commitment and actions for improved professional behaviors

  • Provide a venue for continued President’s Council Member involvement
