Acute Care for Elderly (ACE) Unit
Psychology Services
This elective experience in clinical health psychology provides
psychological services to patients on the inpatient unit. Patients are
elderly and many have chronic medical conditions that benefit from psychological
intervention for cognitive decline or adjustment to the changes in the patient's
life.
Teaching
Psychology fellows provide supervision to
clinical psychiatry students enrolled in the
physician assistant studies program who are
learning to administer and interpret the MMSE
and several other psychological screening
instruments. Students are also required to
provide stress reduction and healthy behavior
information to patients on this unit.
