

Shriners Burns Hospital has a Clinical Health
focus on children, adolescents, and families
with a focus on working with children who have
severe burns. Specialty training in research
and patient care are provided in pain management,
rehabilitation, disability, and quality of life. The Shriners Burns Hospital is 50% clinical and 50%
research.
Services provided by the Psychology Fellow
include: Research and training in social
skills, working with children, adolescents and
families in adjustment to major trauma,
Individual Counseling and Family Counseling,
Psychological Assessment, Crisis Intervention,
Sexual Assault Assessment, Groups,
Workshops, Program Planning and Program
Evaluation.
The Shriners Hospital in Galveston is a
30-bed pediatric burn hospital providing
comprehensive acute care and reconstructive and
rehabilitative care to children who have been
burned. There is no charge to the patient or
family for any of the medical care or services
provided by Shriners Hospitals. This hospital is
one of 22 Shriners Hospitals throughout North
America.
