OCCT 3207 - Clinical Psychiatry
Class Project #2 - Guidelines for Case Study Presentations

Case Presentation - Suggested Guidelines for Information Presented In Class.

Each group will have about 30 minutes to present their information.  To save time in class, please post your presentation or an outline on the WebCT Bulletin Board page by 8:00pm Thursday preceding your Monday presentation.  Be prepared to answer and expand upon the questions for your section below.

Presenting Concern:

Please identify the presenting concern.  Find supporting information that gives more information regarding the presenting concern such as prevalence, number of individuals that are at risk for developing this disorder, additional background information that gives us more resources regarding the presenting concern.

Psychosocial Issues (History and Background):

Please highlight the essential information in the case.  Also please use your textbook, internet or other readings to expand on the relevance of the patient's historical information as well as how these psychosocial issues may influence the patients' ability to respond to the presenting concern.

Testing Information:

Please identify the tests that were used.  Expand on the types of these tests and choose one of the tests to give your audience a better understanding of this test.  Try to interpret what the results of the test mean for this patient.

Medication:

Please identify the types of medication used.  Expand on these medications and give your audience a brief understanding of how these medications work.  If no medications were identified try to explore what types of medications might be useful with this type of patient.

Diagnosis:

Identity the diagnosis in this case.  Expand briefly upon the diagnoses using the  DSMIV and/or your textbook as a resource.

Treatment Considerations:

Identify what treatments were recommended for the patient.  Please expand upon exactly what these treatments might involve.  Also are there other treatment recommendations that might have been left out of this report?  Relate it to Occupational Therapy and how OT and Psychology works together.

What's an OT to Do?:

The class is to discuss interview questions and strategies that would be useful with this patient as well as specific treatment strategies that an OT would use with this patient.  The last presenter should also facilitate this discussion with the class.  They do most of the talking, you do most of the question asking.
