Class Project #2 - Observation Experience Observation Experience Students will spend at least 20 hours in one of the following settings: 1) Discovery Club. This after school program is for children that may be at risk for a number of different problems within the Galveston schools. Typically issues are behavioral disorders, conduct and attention problems, and substance abuse problems. Call Tina Esperanza at 772-3060 or Kelly Romar at 7635515 to make arrangements. 2) Our Daily Bread. This shelter provides assistance to Galveston's homeless community. Typical issues include substance abuse, financial problems, and job difficulties. Call Tina Esperanza at 772-3060 or Lori at 765-6971 to make arrangements. Volunteer time can be observation time as students are also encouraged to lend a hand with any types of activities that put you into direct contact with the patients. There will be psychology residents and advanced OT students at the site on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Students do not have to be there at those times. Please document your volunteer time and post a 1 page paper on the WebCT Discussion page.
