How to ApplyApplicant Information

Application process

We offer 6 ACGME accredited residency positions each year.

We participate in the NRMP match. Applications are only accepted through ERAS. Please remember to register with the NRMP and obtain an NRMP ID number.

Each year we receive over 600 applications and interview around 100-120 applicants for the 6 residency positions.

Applications to our Diagnostic Radiology and the Integrated Radiology program Radiology Residency programs:

  • The Diagnostic Radiology program and Integrated Interventional Radiology program each have specific and different ID numbers.
  • You may apply to the Diagnostic Radiology program, without applying to the Integrated IR program. We also have ESIR tracts through the DR program.
  • If applying to both programs you will have 2 separate interview days.
  • Foreign medical graduates should hold a current ECFMG certificate and have either permanent resident status or a J-1 visa. Diagnostic Radiology Residency programs require a preliminary or transitional year prior to beginning residency.

Interview dates

Interviews are by invitation only. All candidates invited to interview for Diagnostic Radiology will receive an e-mail through ERAS from our Program Coordinator, Ms. Lycia Champagne-Buckley at the University of Texas Medical Branchs. All candidates invited to interview for the UTMB Integrated IR program will receive a separate email from the Integrated IR program.

Interviews for Diagnostic Radiology will be conducted virtually on Wednesdays between October 1, 2023 and January 12, 2024. A limited number of slots are available for each interview date and are provided on a first-come-first-serve basis:

If you are invited for an interview, details about the interview day will be emailed to you. In general, the interview day for Diagnostic Radiology will occur between 9 am to 1 pm CST on Wednesdays. The interview day will typically consist of informational sessions with the Program Director, the Chair of the Department, and one-on-one time with the residents. Each applicant will have 2 separate interviews, including with members of the Diagnostic Radiology faculty and/or the Chief Residents.
