The Division of Physics & Engineering has focused much of its research efforts in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).  IMRT is an advanced form of 3D conformal therapy that uses non-uniform radiation beam intensities (as shown below on the patient treatment plan) that have been determined using various computer-based optimization algorithms.
