Our Treatment Machines:

Siemens PRIMUS

The Siemens PRIMUS is a dual modality (photons and electrons) linear accelerator with multiple treatment energies for each modality.  Available photon energies are 6 MV and 18 MV. Available electron energies are 6 MeV, 9 MeV, 12 MeV, 15 Mev, 18 MeV, and 21 MeV.

"All PRIMUS systems are capable of variable configurations for both photon and electron energies.

Additionally, all PRIMUS Linear Accelerators can be upgraded to accommodate new treatment capabilities when clinical demands grow. This offers all treatment centers the advantages of a PRIMUS system with the versatility of energy ranges and options needed to provide the hospital or clinic with the tools to provide optimal treatments.

All PRIMUS systems offer the most compact design in the radiation therapy industry, along with the greatest clearance between the patient and the treatment head." -Siemens Medical Systems website.

This allows for more flexibility in patient positioning to assist in delivering the best possible treatment.

The accelerator is equipped with a MLC in place of the lower photon jaws for geometric conformal therapy and delivery of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). This feature allows the user to maintain the highest level of patient care.

(2) Siemens PRIMART

The Siemens PRIMART is a single modality (photons) and single energy (6 MV) linear accelerator optimally suited for intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). In act, our PRIMART is used almost exclusively for IMRT treatments.  Again the standard lower jaws are replaced by a MLC for use in the IMRT treatments. This negates the need for tertiary collimation, which allows for greater clearance between the accelerator and patient. This again leads to more flexibility in patient positioning to assist in delivering the best possible treatment.

Nucletron microSelectron

From the Nucletron website, "The microSelectron HDR is a High Dose Rate Afterloading System. The short but highly active source enables conformal therapy for complex implants." Radiation is delivered through precise placement of the unit’s Ir-192 source. The irradiation times are determined by the planning system to deliver a dose distribution that satisfies the physician’s criteria.

"The microSelectron HDR is installed in more than 1000 radiation therapy departments around the world. It has an excellent proven track record for safety and reliability.

The microSelectron HDR is the perfect combination between capability, efficiency and capacity."          -Nucletron website.
