These include UTMB Novell local area network servers, electronic mail, Medline, World Wide Web pages originating at UTMB, and hospital and business IBM systems. The following protocols are supported: IPX (Novell), PPP (IP/Internet), and Appletalk. Internet: Phone number 2 - 4 provide access to all Internet and Intranet (on-campus Internet) services. This includes, for example, resources available via Netscape or other World Wide Web browsers, TELNET terminal emulation, FTP (File Transfer Protocol), or TN3270 (Telnet 3270; for accessing hospital and business IBM applications.) This number also provides access to Novell-based local area networks and MS Mail servers. PPP (IP/Internet) and IPX (Novell) protocols are supported. Appletalk is NOT supported. PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS: For reasons of security and economy, access to all UTMB Modem Pools services, with the exception of the Galveston Local service, requires the use of a password. Passwords will be issued only to UTMB faculty, staff, and students (who have a demonstrated need for dial up access. Anyone having a UTMB e-mail address meets this demonstrated need criteria.) 800/888 ACCESS: 800/888 access is not available from the 281, 409, 713, 832, 936, and 979 area codes.
