We have reviewed for you information you should know when considering a kidney transplant. You have read about the process of evaluation of a potential recipient, living and cadaver donor kidney transplant, the surgery itself, the post-operative period, and what will be expected of a kidney recipient after discharge from the hospital.
A kidney transplant should not be entered into without serious consideration by the recipient and close family members. Kidney transplantation, with its hopes and possible disappointments, requires not only thoughtful consideration by the recipient and family, but also discussions with physicians and other medical personnel who are knowledgeable about the transplant process.
If, after consideration and discussion, you feel that kidney transplantation is the right step for you to take, the members of the Transplant Service team will be available to work with you toward the goal of a well-functioning transplanted kidney.
