Narrative: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is in compliance with this standard because the members of the faculty who teach courses meet this criterion. Information is found in the Faculty Roster for instructional staff, listing all full-time and part-time faculty teaching credit courses during the current academic term (1a) (1b) (1c) (1d).
Faculty teaching baccalaureate courses: Baccalaureate courses are taught in the School of Nursing and the School of Allied Health Sciences. A summary of the faculty credentials appears in Table 3.5.4.a. All faculty teaching baccalaureate level courses have been judged to have credentials that qualify them to teach designated courses. Almost all baccalaureate courses are taught by faculty with doctorates or master’s degrees in the teaching discipline or master’s degrees with a concentration in the discipline. The other faculty member is determined to be qualified based on the other criteria used by the institution to assure qualified faculty. These criteria include holding doctorates and/or master’s in closely related disciplines, licensure or certification in the teaching discipline, or extensive work experience, and/or other professional accomplishments. Prior to assigning a faculty member to a course, the department or program director/chair reviews credentials. The deans of each school have ultimate responsibility for ensuring that faculty members meet credentials requirements and that proper documentation is maintained. In addition, faculty appointments are reviewed by an appropriate faculty committee within each of the schools for approval. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
