Community-based participatory research project.
Project overview:
The purpose of this project is to build on the community-based research of UTMB CPHHD investigators in promoting health behaviors in the Piney Woods area of East Texas. Preliminary work has concentrated on a rural, mostly African-American population.
The approach has been modified for a Mexican-American population. The main goal is to conduct community-based participatory research to test interventions designed to reduce cancer risks in Mexican Americans.
