RSVP of Galveston County

RSVP is a volunteer program that helps people 55 and older, living throughout Galveston County, identify ongoing volunteer needs in their community.

RSVP works with over 50 locations trying to connect these programs/projects with the RSVP volunteers they need. Specific location referrals are made to the volunteers according to a person’s skills, background and personal preferences. Volunteers spend time in schools, non-profit agencies, hospitals, faith-based locations and also may do work from home. RSVP volunteers provide help in a number of ways: working at food pantries, sewing lap quilts and pillows for patients, making phone calls to check on people who don’t have a support system nearby, gardening and minor home repairs, clerical work, hospice care and transportation to doctor appointments or the grocery store, to name a few.

To apply or identify more volunteer opportunities in your area, just call the RSVP office at (409) 772-5361. The only rule of eligibility is to be at least 55 years of age. Free supplementary auto insurance and third party liability insurance are provided automatically to RSVP volunteers actively working. This program is sponsored by the UTMB Senior Services office and funded, in part by the Corporation of National& Community Service.
