The Sealy Center on Aging Volunteer Registry

Information for research investigators

The registry maintains a list of persons aged 55 and over who are interested in participating in research studies. Self-reported sociodemographic and health information obtained by questionnaire is stored in a database managed and analyzed by the General Clinical Research Center. The registry is available to any researchers at UTMB. There is no charge to use the registry nor do volunteers require compensation. It facilitates research on aging by helping to recruit subjects and by disseminating information about research projects through mailing lists, newsletters and presentations. There are now approximately 800 volunteers.

The Sealy Center on Aging (SCOA) Volunteer Registry at your request will create mailing labels of all volunteers who meet the inclusionary criteria of your particular study. You then send a recruitment letter out on your letterhead with your phone number so that the volunteers can contact you if they are interested in participating. Please include the following statement in our letter "Your name was given to us by the Sealy Center on Aging Volunteer Registry." Please note that your initial contact to volunteers obtained from the SCOA Volunteer Registry should be by letter, and not by phone.

If you are interested in using the services of the SCOA Volunteer Registry please read the General Information, complete the Request Form, and User Agreement Form.
