(January-December 2010) received her PhD degree in Engineering (Ergonomics) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Dr. Mafra is an Associate professor at the Federal University of Viscosa, at Brazil. Her main research interests are changes in family structure due to the process of population aging, and functionality in the residential space. Dr. Mafra's stay at UTMB is sponsored by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimiento Cientifico e Tecnologico and she is hosted by the WHO/PAHO Collaborating Center on Aging and Health.
