Dr. Klimpel’s research interests have focused on different areas of host defence to enteric and hepatic infections. This work has centered on the mucosal immune response of the intestinal tact to Salmonella infection and the immunobiology of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections. The overall goal of this research is to better understand the local and systemic immune response to these pathogens so that efficient immunotherapies and vaccines can be developed. |
