Research Interests:

My research interests deal primarily with developing and applying enhanced statistical designs and related statistical analysis strategies associated with biomedical and health related research in both experimental and non-experimental studies. Particular interest is assessing/improving the experimental sensitivity of assays used to detect efficacy and safety related effects of toxic and therapeutic agents in humans and in animals. Achieving a relatively high probability of statistically detecting a toxic agent's adverse health effect potential is of paramount importance in protecting human health. Working with collaborators nationally and internationally to obtain relevant experimentally derived data from newly devised assays, I develop new and improved experimental and non-experimental protocols and apply improved analysis methodologies particularly suited to the rare mutagenic outcomes. I consult/collaborate with biomedical and health scientists throughout UTMB concerning statistical issues related to their research.
