About The Southeast Texas Poison Center

The Southeast Texas Poison Center is located at The University of Texas Medical Branch Campus in Galveston, Texas. We are supported by an intrastate long distance telephone tax and designated by the Texas legislature to provide poison information and prevention services to health care professionals and the public within Public Health Region 5 and 6. The Texas Poison Center Network is comprised of six poison centers regionally located throughout the state, the Texas Department of Health and the Advisory Commission State Emergency Communications. This area includes Nacogdoches to Matagorda, Columbus to Orange, and the entire greater Houston area. (See maps)


Education materials are available to those within our service area by calling (800) 764-7661. Emergency and consultative services to both the public and health care providers are available through 1-800-222-1222. This number accesses all Poison Centers within the State of Texas, when calling from within Texas, and will only access The Southeast Texas Poison Center when calling within Public Health Region 5 and 6.
