Configuring Outlook XP

As of August 2003 you will need to use VPN software to use the Outlook Exchange client from a non-UTMB location (e.g. DSL, Cable Modem, AOL, MSN, etc.).  See http://www.utmb.edu/is/operations/vpn.htm for information on obtaining and installing a VPN connection.  Your "trusted requestor" must complete a VPN application on your behalf (see the VPN web page and https://irapub.utmb.edu/ for more info).

1.  Install Outlook XP from the Office XP CD.

2.  Click the Outlook icon on the desktop (or start Outlook from the Start Button).

3.  Click Next in the Startup window.

4.  Choose Microsoft Exchange Server in the E-mail Accounts window.

5.  Enter exchange1.utmb.edu for the exchange server and enter your email username in the User Name box.

6.  Click the Check Account button.  Enter your email username, password and utmb-users-m as the domain name.

7.  Click OK.  Your full name as displayed in the global address book should appear in the User Name box.  The exchange server name will be in the server box.  Both will be underlined to signify the names are correct.

8.  Click Finish.  Outlook will ask for your password information once more and will open with your Inbox displayed.
