Changing Your UTMB Email Password
Make sure you are not logged on to any other
computer and that email and other applications are closed.

Password
Rules:
·
Passwords must be
at least six characters (max 128)
and contain both alpha and numeric
characters.
·
Passwords must
not be anything easily identified with the account owner such as: user name,
social security number, nickname, relative’s names, or birth date.
·
Passwords must
not be recurring as created by combining a set of characters that do not change
with a set of characters that predictably change (i.e., May2002, Jun2002,
Jul2002, or word123, word456, word789, etc.).
·
Passwords must
not be dictionary words or contain
dictionary words, or be acronyms, or common character sequences (i.e.,
123456, qwerty, zxcvbn, etc.).
Hint:
You can purposely misspell words, and/or substitute numbers for letters,
e.g., 0 for o, 1 for l, for
example, b01ogna.

Scenario I:
Logged in to a UTMB-USERS-M domain PC (e.g., a library or LRC computer)
with your UTMB username and password:
1.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del. It
should show your username as logged on to UTMB-USERS-M.
If not, use the instructions for Scenario II.
2.
Click on the Change Password button.
3.
Enter your current password, then your new password twice, where
indicated.
4.
Click OK.

Scenario II:
You are using a home computer, your own laptop or are using a public PC
where you are not logged on to the computer with your UTMB username and
password.
(To change your password from a home PC,
you will need to be running VPN.)
For more information on running MyVPN, go to
http://www.utmb.edu/is/operations/VPN_Info/MYVPN_setup.htm.
1.
Go to the Email
Home Page at: http://webmail.utmb.edu.
2.
Select the second
choice, “Click here to change your
password”

3.
Read the instructions and press the “Continue” button:

4.
When presented with the login
screen you will need to enter the
domain name,
utmb-users-m,
in
front
of your username.
Separate username from domain with a "\" (e.g., utmb-users-m\jdoe) as
indicated in the illustration.
Enter your current password
and press
“OK”:

5.
Select the alternate password change site:

7.
Fill in your old password as indicated.
Enter your new password in the two spaces provided.
Press the "Change Password" button.
8.
You
should get a confirmation message that your password has been changed.
