Honor Pledge Committee's
Excellence in Professionalism Award
"On my honor, as a member of the UTMB community,
I pledge to act with integrity, compassion, and respect in all my academic and professional endeavors."
Congratulations to our
July-August-September winner…
Bridget Wagner
(SOM)
“Bridget is a 4th year medical student who has worked tirelessly to help guide the students below her in their studies. She has been a tutor for two years, both for all required courses and to help students in the year below succeed at Step 1, the national board exam. During her Acting Internship at the pediatric rotation, she guided third year medical students new to the inpatient service how to write progress notes, discharge summaries, and was always friendly to any student, giving them advice to help them succeed. Bridget was always there before any other student, and she was a true leader. I am really going to miss her when she graduates because she always is looking out to help students a year below. Overall, she is humble. Even when you tell her things like, "You're the best fourth year ever." She shrugs it off and says, "I remember how it was, you’ll get better, y’all are doing great," Bridget is one of the most optimistic people I know. She always has a wonderful attitude. The way she interacts with residents and faculty is to be emulated. She really has a special way of engaging with patients too. She remembers all the family members names, where they are from and what is unique about the patient. This is evident during rounds, and is true even when she has multiple patients to care for. Furthermore, Bridget has excelled in medical school with both grades and board scores, she could match into any competitive high paying specialty but is choosing pediatrics because of her intrinsic love for caring for kids. Bridget is a shining star in UTMBs school of medicine and should be rewarded for her tireless efforts at helping other students succeed and being an exemplary model of professionalism at UTMB.”

Nominate Here
The purpose of the Excellence in Professionalism Award is to recognize a student that has shown exemplary professionalism within the UTMB community. This student has exhibited traits of the honor pledge and the three characteristics of the professionalism charter: integrity, compassion, and respect.
The Honor Pledge Award Committee will review the nominees and choose three finalists to be voted on by the student affairs deans of each school every month. To eliminate bias, the nomination forms will be presented anonymously to the Honor Pledge Award Committee and the student affairs deans of the schools. The honorees will receive a certificate of acknowledgement, a gift certificate, and recognition of the award by the student affairs dean of the student’s school.
Self-nominations will not be considered.
If you have any questions regarding the Excellence in Professionalism Award, please contact Ericka Hailey in the Office of Student Life.
