Become an Ally
All UTMB students, faculty and staff members are encouraged to to become a SAFE Ally. Seminars take place several times a semester. By attending one of the seminars you will develop:
- a deeper awareness of personal ideas, stereotypes, and assumptions related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning persons;
- an increased comfort level in addressing GLBTQ issues such as "coming out" and heterosexism/homophobia;
- an increased awareness of resources to support GLBTQ individuals; and
- a network of students, staff and faculty members that support GLBTQ persons here at UTMB.
At the end of the seminar, if you wish to become an ally, you will sign the
Ally Pledge. This form also lets you decide if you would like to have your name published on the website, or join the SAFE ally listserve.
