UTMB United to Serve 2008

United to Serve is a system-wide volunteer initiative involving UT System students, administrators, faculty and staff in an effort to engage and mobilize thousands of volunteers in the communities where we are located. The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is having a service day event on Saturday April 26, 2008, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM . This event will be open to UTMB students, faculty and staff who want to give back to their community by volunteering at various locations in the Galveston area. It is a day for UTMB to make a difference!

Earth Day and Oleander Festival

Volunteers are needed to wrap thousands of pine seedlings in wet paper and drop in plastic sleeve. In addition, volunteers are needed to help the exhibiters set up

Ronald McDonald House

Volunteers are needed to help in the kitchen to create a nice breakfast for the house guests. In addition, volunteers will be needed to help clean certain areas of the house.

Texas Adopt A Beach

The 2008 UTMB Beach Cleanup Team will be responsible for cleaning the beach at Big Reef Beach which is located on the east end of Galveston Island. The focus will be on cleaning the dunes and lagoons in the park. Volunteers are asked to inventory items cleaned to help the Texas General Land Office track the type of trash cleaned along the Texas coast.
