Who can I talk with on campus if I have a question?

What is the annual deductible?

$300

What’s the least expensive way to get prescriptions filled?

You can get your prescription filled at participating pharmacies for a co-pay of $10 - $15 dollars.

Is there a limit to the number of prescriptions I can get filled?

There is an annual prescription benefit limit of $1,000.

Where do I go for primary care?

The United HealthCare policy is an injury and sickness insurance plan.  Student wellness will provide your primary care services.  These services are covered by the medical services fee.  There is never a charge for professional services at student wellness.

Can I see a specialist?

After an evaluation in student wellness you may be referred to a specialist if indicated. The specialist services will be covered, if allowed by the United HealthCare plan, after you satisfy your annual deducible.  After paying the annual deductible you are responsible for 20% of the preferred provider allowance when you see a preferred provider and 40% of the allowable charge if you see an out-of-network provider.  Most UTMB providers are on the preferred provider list. 

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

Yes, if you have had continuous health insurance coverage prior to enrolling in United HealthCare.
