May 7, 2007: Town Meeting afforded opportunity to meet presidential finalist

On Monday, May 7, members of the university and local communities were invited to a special UTMB Town Meeting where Dr. David L. Callender, sole finalist for the position of UTMB president, was introduced.

President John D. Stobo, who announced in 2006 he would step down as president at the end of FY 2007, hosted the meeting and was joined by Dr. Kenneth I. Shine, UT System executive vice chancellor for health affairs and chair of the presidential search committee. Lively  discussion and questions followed the meeting, which was attended by more than 500 people and watched via campus TV and web by many more.
