Accruals
1. What
happens to my vacation, holiday and sick leave accruals if I am
no longer employed?
Employees who have been
employed for 180 days or more are eligible to receive a lump sum
payout for Vacation Leave and Personal Holiday Leave on your final
paycheck. Holiday Time, Sick Leave, Compensatory Time are not eligible
for payment.
2. What happens to my vacation, holiday and sick
leave accruals if I transfer to another UT System Component or a
qualified State of Texas Agency?
If you transfer to another qualified
State of Texas Agency without a break in service your unused Vacation
and Sick Leave will transfer to the new State of Texas agency. You
will be paid for any unused Personal Holiday time.
3. What happens to my accruals if I have a break
in service and I am re-employed with UTMB, another UT System Component
or a qualified State of Texas Agency?
If you transfer to another
State of Texas agency and you have a break in service, your unused
Vacation and Personal Holiday time will be paid on your last pay
check. Furthermore, your accrual rate upon re-employment will be
based on your years of total State service. Your Sick Leave accruals
will be reinstated if you return to work for UTMB or another State
of Texas Agency after 1 calendar month but not longer than 12 months.
4. What happens to my Compensatory Disaster Earned
time (CDE) that I accrued as an E-1 employee during Hurricane Ike,
if I am no longer employed by UTMB?
Compensatory time must be taken
within 12 months of earning and will not be paid if you leave UTMB.
5. Am I required to attend an Exit Session with Benefits Services?
No. A COBRA continuation packet will be mailed to the home address
of employees who have left UTMB within 45 days of separation.
