FTP Access to wahoo and snapper

The UTMB web servers wahoo and snapper are designed to allow web authors to use Microsoft FrontPage to author and administer their web pages.  For authors using other web page editing programs, e.g. Dreamweaver, Netscape, PageMill, File Transfer Protocol (ftp) is the preferred method to move your files to the web server.  To manually move files in and out of your web site you can also use a ftp client program, e.g. WS-FTP or the FTP client built into Microsoft Windows.  To use ftp be sure to request this type of access to the web server.

Your access to the web site is based on your UTMB Microsoft master domain account (UTMB-USERS-M);  this is usually the same username and password you use to read your UTMB exchange email.  To configure your web editor to access your web site, the following information is required:

  Machine: wahoo.utmb.edu
  Username: utmb-users-m\<username>
  Password: <email password>
  Directory: /<directory>

Notes:

  1. The machine name can also be the name of the web server, e.g. www.utmb.edu.
  2. Note that you must prepend the utmb-users-m\ to your username.
3. The directory is usually the part of your URL after the server name, e.g. mysite for the web site at http://www.utmb.edu/mysite .  Be sure to request this directory be created and check the name assigned.
