Downloading and Installing Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer is included with most versions of Windows. The Blackboard Learning System is validated for use with version 6 of Internet Explorer with Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2. Internet Explorer version 7 is supported as of January 2007.
- Click here for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
- Click the "Download" button.
- You will be brought to a page that says "Thank You for Downloading" and the download should begin automatically.
- Save the ie6setup.exe file to your desktop.
- Double click the ie6setup.exe file to begin installation. It will not install if you have a newer version!
- Choose the typical installation features.
- The program will now download the requested features and install Internet Explorer 6.

Downloading and Installing Firefox
Firefix 2.0.0.1 is now officially supported by the current version of Blackboard. Previous versions are also supported but we recommend that you use 2.0.0.1
- Go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
- Click the "Download Firefox 2.0.0.1 for Windows" button.
- Your download should begin automatically. Save the Firefox setup file to a convenient location such as your desktop.
- When the download completes, double click the saved file to run the installation program.
- Read the on-screen instructions and click next to continue.
- Select "I Accept the terms of this liscense agreement." If you do not accept you cannot continue the installation.
- Choose "Standard" installation and click next to continue.
- Click next to continue after verifying that your install options are correct.
- Firefox will be installed and you will be prompted when it is complete. If you would like to run Firefox immediately leave the "Launch Mozilla Firefox Now" option checked. Press the finish button to close the installation program.
