You Count! 2007

Message from the President
2008 You Count! Employee Survey

Dear Members of the UTMB Community:

Dr. David Callender

In the past weeks and months, I’ve been working with many of you to formulate, articulate and share the university’s strategic priorities. First on the list: UTMB will attract and retain a world-class workforce, and achieve recognition as a preferred employer and workplace.

One aspect of being the best employer we can be is to have a structure that creates an environment in which our leaders, faculty and staff can find satisfaction and achieve success in their chosen fields. To that end, during Town Hall on February 20, I plan to share a new organizational structure that is intended to do just that. I hope you can join us, either in person, online or via the campus television network.

In the meantime, everyone can help UTMB become a desired destination for current and future employees by taking part in the You Count! Employee Survey, which begins February 11 and runs until midnight, February 29. I am respectfully asking each of you to use the survey as a mechanism to share your ideas, perspectives and perceptions. I and others in leadership need to hear about the issues and opportunities that are important to you, and critical to our success.

Please watch your email beginning Feb. 11 for an invitation to participate in the survey. To ensure anonymity and foster candid responses, the survey will be administered by a third-party, Watson Wyatt. Our participation goal is an ambitious 65 percent, and a cruise drawing will be offered as an incentive. Additional details are available by exploring this web site.

We want to be the best. That starts today, and it starts with each of us. Join me in making it happen.

Dr. David L. Callender
UTMB President
