 hate crimes&nbsp\;a public health issue.&nbsp\;Over 150 counties\, cities\
 , and states have also declared racism a public health issue.&nbsp\;Statem
 ents and declarations of this sort are a much needed first step in attacki
 ng&nbsp\;issues of&nbsp\;systemic&nbsp\;racial&nbsp\;oppression such as ra
 cial disparities in health outcomes\, racial inequities in social determin
 ants of health\, and racial bias in health care and biomedical research. B
 ut it is not enough.&nbsp\;What does&nbsp\;declaring&nbsp\;racism a public
  health issue&nbsp\;require&nbsp\;of researchers?&nbsp\;What actions are n
 ecessary to be a racially just researcher?&nbsp\;In this presentation I us
 e&nbsp\;the example of environmental racism to offer ethical guidance for 
 researchers&nbsp\;on how&nbsp\;to participate&nbsp\;in&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;how
 &nbsp\;to&nbsp\;produce anti-racist work that grapples with past abuses of
  people of color and contributes to a&nbsp\;new anti-racist path going for
