DESCRIPTION:Community Overdose Response and Recovery Effort (CORRE) is a UT
MB-student led venture that wants to enable the Galveston community to pre
vent opioid overdose deaths. CORRE is currently offering overdose assessme
nt and naloxone administration training\n and developing a communicatio
n platform for individuals in Galveston County to respond to and report ov
erdoses. Participants will learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid
overdose. Naloxone kits will be provided.&nbsp\;Did you know?September 21
\, 2022\, is National Opioid Awareness Day More than 932\,000 people have
died from a drug overdose since 1999\, with 107\,000 of those occurring be
tween December 2020 and December 2021 Preliminary data for 2022 shows near
ly 80% of drug overdose deaths involve an opioid Overdose is now the leadi
ng cause of death in US adults aged 18-49 Four out of every 10 pills on ou
r streets are contaminated with fentanyl and sold to unsuspecting victims
Only 39 states are funded to report and provide data on all drug overdoses
to the CDC\; Texas is considered a non-responder CDC wants to expand acce
ss to naloxone with community distribution and overdose training programs
How can you help? Be aware that most illegal drugs are contaminated with f
entanyl Be aware that opioid overdose can be reversed with naloxone Get tr
ained on Naloxone Administration Spread the word that Naloxone saves lives
