Christine M. Young, Current Fellow
Christine M. Young currently serves as the 2023-2024 UTMB Health System Administrative Fellow. She received her Bachelor’s in Public health from Texas A&M University and her Master’s in Health Administration at Cornell University. During her 3 years at Texas A&M, Christine co-led multiple research initiatives and worked with rural, low-income, underserved communities to examine their healthcare experiences. Her time working with vulnerable populations led her to publish 4 research works in nationally recognized journals and co-author 4 working manuscripts to help bring awareness for the need to provide these communities better quality care. At Cornell, she was involved with various initiatives such as directing the SSM Health Co-sponsored, Sloan Program in Health Administration National Case Competition, which garnered over 120 graduate/professional student participants across the United States.
Prior to joining UTMB Health, while in her graduate studies Christine served as a Program coordinator for the ACHE-Southeast Texas Chapter and was actively involved in facilitating and spearheading the various strategic initiatives. She interned at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she supervised a specialty wide quarterly Quality Improvement Initiative for 19 Patient-Centered Medical Homes. Direct from her efforts, over 2,200 additional lives were impacted, and her process improvement recommendations continue to aid an additional magnitude of patients weekly in obtaining timely, needed care.
Christine brings a passion for providing equitable, accessible, high-quality care for all individuals regardless of socioeconomic or geographic background. She confidently chose UTMB Health because of the organization’s forward-thinking spirit, commitment to continuous learning, and constant drive to pursue high-quality patient care.
Outside of work, Christine enjoys making Charcuterie boards, Aquascaping, Fencing recreationally, training her Maltipoo, Angie, for her Therapy Dog certification, and spending time with her friends and family.
