Sharon Forest, NDPAssociate Professor
School of Nursing

Dr. Sharron Forest is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. She completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston; a Bachelor of Science in nursing at McNeese State University; and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University. She has over 28 years of experience in neonatal critical care nursing, over 23 of which are as a neonatal nurse practitioner. Dr. Forest teaches several courses in the DNP program at UTMB. Her research and grant activities focus on quality improvement. Initiatives including grant-funded projects aimed at implementing an education model to prepare nurse practitioner students to care for under-served populations and developing and implementing tobacco prevention and cessation activities targeting adolescents/teens and maternal smokers. Dr. Forest’s recognitions include receiving the American Association of Colleges of Nurses Novice Faculty Award and the Outstanding DNP Faculty Award.

Sharon was inducted into the Academy of Master Teachers in 2019.
