UTMB Academic Resources Academic Computing and Information Services
Educational and research technology resources for UTMB faculty and students are provided by the Academic Computing department. Academic Computing maintains the school's academic course management tools, lecture capture system, student online testing applications, and student/course/faculty online evaluations, among other resources.
Blackboard Learn 9.1 allows a web-based interface for UTMB's distance, hybrid, and face-to-face courses, providing collaboration, engagement, and course management. Features include discussions, content, assignments, grade book, and exams/quizzes. Tegrity Lecture Capture
Tegrity Campus 2.0 allows UTMB instructors to record lectures and talks from the podium or from any convenient site. Equipment required is a personal computer and a microphone; a web camera is optional to record the instructor in a separate window. Tegrity features include full search capability, high resolution screen recording, ease of use, variable speed playback, mobile viewing, and iTunes and Blackboard integration.
This application allows a-synchronic voice and media communications associated with educational objects like powerpoint presentation. VoiceThread is fully integrated to Blackboard and instructors can add VoiceThread to their Blackboard courses.
Research Applications (Licensed)
Sigmaplot is a scientific graphing and statistical analysis package for Windows computers. Academic Computing provides and manages a 50 concurrent user license.

SPSS is a high-powered statistical analysis package for Windows and Apple computers. Academic Computing provides and manages a 30 concurrent user license.

At UTMB there are two testing applications implemented: Respondus and Perception. Support for students is provided by the instructors, and support for instructors is provided via the departments.
UTMB has an unlimited user license for the Respondus exam software, which allows assessments to be published to Blackboard.
This online assessment management program is available at all UTMB testing centers.
