Artifact Collection
Artifacts held by the department include microscopes that document the development of microscopy from the 18th century to the first quarter of the 20th century, assorted medicine chests and cases from the 19th century. In addition, there are approximately
2,000 medical artifacts including medals, statues, antique cardiac diagnostic and x-ray equipment, analytical balances, laboratory glassware, and various surgical instruments.
Microscope Collection
Representative samples documenting the development of microscopy from the 18th through the first half of the 20th century. The work of more than 30 individual makers and firms is included. Approximately 100 instruments.

Pharmaceutical Collection
Assorted medicine chests and cases (19th century) and non-prescription drugs from the first part of the 20th century. Represents approximately 400 pharmaceutical companies in 35 states, with drugs varying from analgesic to laxatives to cough syrups and skin ointments.
