Insomnia can be costly to people’s health and to the economy. UTMB’s Sara Nowakowski spoke with The Daily News about the need for adults to get the proper amount of sleep. “Sleeping less may be looked upon as a virtue in order to accomplish more in the 24-hour day,” Nowakowski told the newspaper. “However, short sleep duration (less than 6 hours nightly) has been linked to obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.”
