and Reporting

As Vice President of Financial Accounting and Reporting, John oversees the payroll, treasury, general accounting, grant and contract accounting, asset management, and institutional financial reporting activities for UTMB. Additionally, John is responsible for the accounting and reporting activities associated with disaster recovery. Most recently, John has served as the Assistant Vice President for Sponsored Programs Finance and Post-Award Administration at UTMB, responsible for the post-award financial administration of externally sponsored agreements.

John earned his B.S.B.A degree at the University of Arkansas. His career in academic medical center financial administration began at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in 1976, where his primary responsibilities included capital asset accounting. In 1982 he joined the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where he held numerous positions including financial reporting, manager of general accounting, director of accounting, and director of post-award administration. John was recruited to UTMB in 2006.

John is a member of the National Association of University Research Administrators and has been a speaker on the topics of facilities and administrative cost recoveries and time and effort reporting at both regional and national meetings. John has also been active with the Council on Governmental Relations, an association of research universities.
