Administrative Staff

Kirsty serves as the Center Program Manager. She is responsible for providing pre and post award administration (T32 Training Grant), budget forecasting, progress reporting, logistics, asset management, scheduling functions, support to all faculty, workgroups, and seminar activities.

Kirsty has been in health care administration with UTMB since 2008 and has held a variety of positions within UTMB since this time. Kirsty joined The Center for Addiction Research in 2015 and brings a wide range of experience and knowledge to her position. Kirsty has previous experience in clinical management in all disciplines of health care along with research administration.

Beth Cammarn serves as the Senior Research Operations Manager in the Center for Addiction Research (CAR). She manages all research efforts for CAR, provides general oversight for programs and activities, and assists with strategic planning and research development. Prior to joining CAR in August 2022, she spent 21 years in the UTMB School Health Professions (SHP) serving in various roles - Research Operations Manager in the SHP Office of Research, Administrator of the Center for Recovery, Physical Activity and Nutrition, and Sr. Administrative Manager for the Division of Rehabilitation Sciences. Beth has more than 20 years of experience in academic and research administration including the management of several major programs (PhD and postdoctoral training, junior faculty career development, and a program focused on large database research and data archiving). She has extensive experience and expertise in grants preparation, award management, and research development, with a specific emphasis on federal awards (NIH).

Beth is a Certified Research Administrator, received from the Research Administrators Certification Council in 2013 and renewed in 2018. She is a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAi). She currently serves on SRAi’s Education and Professional Development Committee, Administration/Management working group (co-chair) and on NCURA’s Nominating Committee. Past service includes planning committees for annual/regional meetings (SRAi/NCURA), speaker (SRAi/NCURA), and NCURA Executive and Publications committees).
