The Center for Comparative Effectiveness and Cancer Outcomes was established in 2009. It is affiliated with UTMB's Department of Surgery and the Cancer Center.

Our Mission

The CCECO will use a variety of population-based and local data sources to conduct timely and relevant comparative effectiveness research on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other disease processes.

The goals of our center faculty are to:

  • Assist physicians, researchers & other health care providers in conducting related research
  • Contribute to the body of evidence on the benefits and harms of various treatment strategies
  • Train and develop clinical researchers
  • Guide decision-making for patients and health care providers
  • Help shape health policy
