Sandra Ferrara, RN, MBA
Executive Director, Director of Youth Services
Sandra Ferrara received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in 1977. She received her Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas in Austin in 1990.
From 1977 to 1982 Ferrara worked in intensive care settings including neonatal and cardiac care, as well as school and community health nursing. In 1982 she began her career in correctional health care as director of nursing at a Texas Youth Commission facility. Ferrara was promoted to health services administrator of TYC in 1987. In 1995 she began her career with UTMB Correctional Managed Care as the executive director for youth services, where she manages UTMB CMC contracts for health care in juvenile settings.
Ferrara was co-author of the 1999 edition of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care Standards for Health Services in Juvenile Detention and Confinement Facilities. She has provided expert consultation regarding correctional health care services to the Department of Justice.
