The NIEHS P30 Center for Environmental Toxicology (CET) supports key resources and programs designed to facilitate basic and translational environmental health science consistent with the NIEHS strategic goal. The administrative core is the chief administrative unit in the CET, and functions as a positive catalyst to manage the resources necessary to fulfill the Center’s mission—to integrate, foster and coordinate interactions and collaborations among multidisciplinary groups of new and established investigators pursuing research pertinent to the adverse effects of environmental factors on human health. The CET administrative core’s purpose is to assist Center investigators by:
- Promoting CET members access to essential core resources to facilitate their research programs;
- Providing leadership in collaborative team science initiatives using the Collaborative Research Team mechanism consistent with the strategic vision of the Center;
- Implementing and monitoring the pilot project program;
- Facilitating the recruitment on new faculty with an interest in the environmental health sciences in collaboration with other UTMB departments;
- Monitoring membership (recruitment, retention, discontinuation) based on established criteria;
- Providing administrative support in targeted career development processes;
- Exercising fiscal oversight of the CET budget including:
- Strategic use of the pilot project funds including the Rapid Response pilots;
CRT initiatives; - Tracking Facility Core usage and management of discounts extended to Center investigators;
- Coordination of CET activities including seminars, retreats, annual progress reports and submission of competing
and non-competing renewals; - Implementation of the Internal and External Advisory Board (EAB) recommendations to the Center director and Provost.
